What is a healthy weight loss goal?

I’m 17, 5’5″, and 180lbs. My calculated ideal body weight is 130lbs. I’m not looking to be skinny i like some curves so what is a healthy goal for the New Year? Thats about 5 and a half months from now.

Usually, to lose a pound, you have to expend 3500 more calories than you eat. Some calories you burn just by daily living, but exercise will help speed that up. Then, a diet with lean meat, fruits and veggies is great. Hold off on the soda, chips, french fries, etc. You should be able to safely expend 500 more calories a day than you eat, that equates to one pound a week. (It will be quicker with more intense exercise). So, in 5 and a half months, you should be able to lose 25-30 pounds easily. Good Luck

Well if you are 40 pounds overweight then you want to lose the 40 pounds and then maintain it. You need to count calories (go to a calorie counter to see how many you should be eating), carbs, and fat. They say to do 3 30 minute cardio workouts a week and 4 30 minute strenght workouts a week. Try going to www.sparkpeople.com to help you keep track of you workouts, eating and drinking habits. I have been on their program for 2 months and lost 20 pounds. You can customize it to your needs and wants

I’m trying to lose some weight the healthy way; by eating right and exercising more. I’m just looking for some tips on ways to eat healthy foods. For example; eating a piece of fruit for breakfast, or substituting certain foods for others. I’ll take anything. I’m not being obsessive about it, but I’m just looking for some simple things I can do to lose some weight.

Divide your meals into six meals a day. Get your daily servings of fruits and veggies, carbs, and protein. And exercise!
